A Good Veterans Story

Always hearing about another crisis at the Veteran's Administration regarding health care one feels compelled to share a very good story about a Veteran and excellent health care.

And that would be my mother.......

Yes, it is true and not to be dismissive of issues other Veterans have had about life and health but our situation is really something to write about.

My mother is only 100.

Apparently the best thing she ever did was to join the Navy in 1943 and serve as a secretary at Pearl Harbor as the war ended.

She loves to tell the story that her boss came along and said get all of the papers in order as the war has ended.

She only served for two years bun her benefits have been magnificent.

We got together about two years ago as her health was diminishing as far as living alone and needed just a touch of assistance.

She knew of her benefits but really had not investigated them at all and I had heard of the financial benefit and was hoping that would apply to us as we needed a few dollars more each month in order to make ends meet as we began combining our households.

She already had health care with medicare but we signed up in the Mission Valley office of San Diego thinking there may be opportunities for her we just were not aware of such as senior activities.

I must mention her primary care physician Dr. Jagasia as she and her staff, Marlee, her nurse have gone out of their way to help us.

My mother kept falling yet she was alert and still needed something to do and keep her mind operating at a fast pace.

We found out about the Glenner Day care facility through our PACT social worker Raquel Alva.

It was wonderful for my mother to go there three times a week.  My mother had friends there, yes the staff, and she looked forward to her days there and wanted to get there early.  They sing all of the old songs she knows and celebrated her birthday and had a Veterans pinning ceremony.

These things are so important as most of the folks and family she once had are gone.  I really appreciated their services--they cared about my mother and also it was expensive.  This was paid for by the VA.

We also had Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapists that came to our house on a regular basis to assist with mobility after her fall and to assist with nutrition.

We also had a nurse that came to our house two hours a day three times a week for respite care.  This was also paid for by the VA.

I did apply for the financial benefit which we did end up receiving but this did take time and require a lot of paperwork.  This part was a tad confusing but I just kept up with it as I thought we did qualify from my research.

The money each month was a giant help.  Thank you to the VA for giving us money.

As my mother's health required more assistance--oh, she broke her other leg at 99--we applied for the Veterans' Home of California at Chula Vista.  This is an extensive application but Shannon at the VA home and Gwen were very helpful in guiding me in completion of the paperwork and getting it all together and telling me exactly what we needed.

Now, my mother is in the VA home in Chula Vista and the care she receives there is excellent--they go out of their way to take good care of her.

I like it because it is in a beautiful setting and they are very welcoming and friendly and the lunch is only four dollars.  We can eat lunch together on a regular basis.

It would be nice if everyone could see how lovely this skilled nursing facility is and how lucky my mother is to be there.

Please keep in mind that coincidentally we live near all of these facilities and as a lady my mother's waiting time to get in the Veteran's home is much shorter than most men.

The price is very affordable comparatively to other nursing homes and the care is the best.

Just wanted to let you know what the VA has done for us and again not trying ton make light of any negative effects other patients have experienced.

Also, when I was trying to get my mother back into the Glenner and the VA home after she broke her leg Dr Jagasia even went out of her way to help us and called me at home on more than one occasion to get info to complete a form to expedite her acceptance.

Just wanted to share this very good story of the Veterans Administration and the care they provide.  Always hearing the negative on the television maybe someone would like to hear our experience.

Casey Quinlan: Turns The Heat Up On the Conversation--JFK

Hats off to JFK Assassination researcher and author Casey Quinlan--expert at turning up the heat and firing up interest and attention on this often forgotten subject.

Well, he has to, he is a high school teacher and believe it or not the kids don't always want to listen.

He has to be an entertainer.

But isn't that the truth for all of us.............

Living in the 30 second take away world how are we still going to get the average citizen to listen the the most important murder mystery of the last century.

It is like stars in the sky--there is just too much minor information for the average individual to see--where do I focus.

Don't get me wrong.  The research is extremely important.  "It is science and the truth has to come out,"  that is what one JFK 2016 Lancer Conference attendee told me.  I was lucky enough to sit at his table.  "I am a scientist, that is what we deal in, the truth and it has to come out and that is research."

"You can't deny the truth."

The folks that were at the conference this year were impressive in their knowledge.

Seriously, for me, just a regular person that has been interested in the JFK assassination forever--I get mixed up in the details.  It has to be a little more straight forward.

Here is where Casey Quinlan comes in.  An Excellent speaker he makes everything interesting as he tells about the reasons and factions that set an environment and attitude for the demise of JFK.

Actually, he talked a language that I could understand.  Call him Oliver Stone but he made a story that I could remember.

So here's the thing for me........honoring the tremendous research and hard work put into the JFK murder mystery but at the end of the day the facts have to be sold to the American public.

Enter Roger Craig.........

His story is jaw dropping and compelling.....You can't get him out of your mind.

Take the example of Ed Hoffman--Casey Quinlan co-authored a book on this very important witness.

Is it important to humanize the story to get the message across.

It takes so many talented interested individuals to get this story out.

We can't forget it and thank you to Casey Quinlan to take time to educate the high school kids  and me about this horrible event--the assassination of our President.

There is almost nothing more important.

More that one person at the conference mentioned in chatting they hoped more young people would be there.  Everyone is dying and the story will be lost.

Point well taken.

Some of us may have a short attention span but we are still interested.

Thanks, Casey, for your hard work--I felt so lucky to get to talk to an actual JFK researcher.  Thank you for taking time to chat with me.

George Noory Update: Continues to bash My Girl Hi...

George Noory Update: Continues to bash My Girl Hillary Clinton

Last evening George Noory of Coast to Coast AM fame, the supposed paranormal themed late night radio talk show, continued his bashing of Hillary and Bill Clinton with his ultra right-wing guest Jerome Corsi.

George has been heralding Jerome's new book about what he feels are improprieties of the Clintons and insists his facts will be earth shaking.

He claims the main theme of his book will be used by Donald Trump in his promised speech vilifying Hillary Clinton and also being kind enough to shed light on this subject.

Seriously, why does George Noory think I want to hear his political opinion.  It is not like he is reporting the news--he kind of lumps this kind of info in with his pre-guest pseudo news-cast and tidbits.  It might be more palatable if he would share both sides of the issue in his political editorializing.

George Noory acts like Coast to Coast AM is a platform for what he considers to be much needed insight into the election.

George, I love Hillary Clinton and I have been waiting for her forever and I love President Obama, too.  Not only do I like him as a person but I also agree with his policies.

Could it be that George Noory loves guns as he often proclaims and enjoys this chat topic often on his show.

And let us not forget the George Noory also has to keep promoting "the world is going to hell in a handbasket" philosophy but that is always one of the main themes of the paranormal talk shows.

You know what, Art Bell at least made the show interesting.  We know George has a political opinion and I guess he can share it if he has to but it would be nice if George Noory can appreciate that others, this blog lady, might have an opposite opinion and his comments are offensive.

Why not have someone from Hillary's side on for equal time--for equal editorializing?  Does George think all of his listeners are all Republicans and Conservatives?  George claimed he would like to run for President of this United Stateson the Democratic ticket.

George, just letting you know if that thought ever comes to fruition, this is one radio listener and Democrat that will not be voting for you.

Art Bell vs George Noory: The Conversation Continues

Talking about George Noory and his paranormal/political radio talk show..........

What day did Coast to Coast AM, the whacky, entertaining, perfect to fall asleep by, UFO, ghost show become a political show?

Was that the day George Noory took over from long time ultra popular nighttime radio host Art Bell or was it when George's ego morphed into something so giant he thought he was someone qualified to run for President of the United States.

What is going on here in night time radio land........

So, as usual, my girl Hillary Clinton achieved a place in history by any one's standards by becoming a candidate of a national political party to run for President, the first woman, wow--amazing.

But instead of focusing on Hillary's achievements and hard work George Noory had to mention his friend and frequent guest has a book due out soon that will be so monumental in bashing the Clintons the political world as we know it may end.

The problem for this radio listener and blogger--I love Hillary Clinton.

Your show is ultra offensive and one-sided.

George very infrequently has a guest from the other side to talk about the good things the dems have done.  Jerome Corsi runs the extreme right wing newspaper World Net Daily, not exactly an unbiased friend of the Clintons.

In the first place why is George giving us politics on Coast to Coast and in the second place why not have both sides--equal time, etc,

George Noory may want to consider in his wildest dreams and smaller ego we are not interested in his political bias and we do not want it forced on us in the night when we are half asleep.

Perhaps, instead of entertaining thoughts of his own political grandeur, making money through a dating service he should study the interviewing skills of Art Bell--maybe he should listen to the guest.  does George Noory know that listening to an old rerun of Art Bell is actually more entertaining that listening to his live show.

Why is that George........

Art had the knack of the interview equally shared by Larry King and George Strombo.  They listen to the guest and they give the appearance that this individual is the most important person in the world and that the listening public will better off with this new information.  Larry King could make the average every day guy sound like what he had to say was monumental.

That is the skill of the host.

The show is about the guest, not the host:  rule 1 in radio talk show interview.

It is not just me:
here we go with some old and new info and thoughts about the skill of Art Bell--the conversation continues--yes, we still miss you, Art Bell
